OffshoreDesk is a small editorial site that reviews casinos licensed outside the UK and not signed up to GamStop. We exist because a lot of British players are looking at offshore sites for various reasons, and most of the information out there is either marketing copy or recycled lists. We try to do the slower, more boring work: opening accounts, putting money in, asking for it back, and writing down what actually happens.
The reviews are written by Rhys Pendry, who has spent years inside the iGaming industry on both the operator and affiliate sides. Rhys handles the testing, the terms-and-conditions reading, and the final call on where a casino sits in our rankings. If you read a review on this site, that is the person whose judgement you are relying on.
Who we write for
Our readers are adults in Great Britain who already know what GamStop is, already know the UKGC framework, and are weighing up sites that sit outside both. We assume you understand that offshore play means fewer consumer protections, slower complaints routes, and in some cases real risk of losing money you cannot recover. We try to flag that honestly rather than bury it.
If you are currently self-excluded for harm-reduction reasons, this site is not for you. Please use the support services available to you.
How we test casinos
Every casino we cover goes through the same basic process:
- Real deposits. We sign up as ordinary players and fund accounts with our own money. We do not use operator-supplied test accounts.
- Timed withdrawals. We request a cashout and record how long verification, approval and payment actually take. We repeat this where we can, because one fast payout proves very little.
- Reading the small print. Bonus terms, maximum cashout clauses, dormancy fees, jurisdiction clauses and complaints procedures all get read in full and quoted where they matter.
- Support checks. We send live chat and email queries on realistic problems and note the quality and consistency of the answers.
- Licence and ownership. We check the stated licence against the regulator’s public register and look at the operating company behind the brand.
How we rank
Ranking is based on what we found during testing, not on what an operator is willing to pay. Sites that pay quickly, write clear terms, and treat complaints seriously rank above sites that do not. A larger commercial offer does not move a casino up the list. If we cannot get a withdrawal out, or if the terms contain clauses we consider unfair, we say so plainly, regardless of any commercial relationship.
Editorial independence
OffshoreDesk earns money through affiliate links when readers sign up to casinos we cover. That is a standard model and we are open about it. What it does not do is decide our verdicts. Operators do not see reviews before publication, cannot pay to remove criticism, and cannot buy a higher position in our tables. When we change a rating, we note why and when. If we get something wrong, we correct it on the page rather than quietly deleting it.
If you spot an error, or your own experience with a site we cover differs sharply from ours, please get in touch. Reader reports are one of the most useful inputs we have.
